Ed Paschke + Chicago International Art Exposition
The Chicago International Art Fair opened in 1980 as an opportunity for the public to view global representations of modern and contemporary art in one hub. Originally in Grant Park, the fair moved to Navy Pier and ushered in galleries and collectors from across the globe to see the pulse of art in the world. With the cultural richness and beauty of the city as the backdrop, the art fair also enlivened tourism in Chicago. The fair included free lectures and programming with admissions and opened arts appreciators to the idea of collecting art. Each annual art fair came with a printed catalogue with a select work chosen for the cover. The catalogue cover was also made into a collectable poster available for purchase at the fair.
